In the Age of Kings the buildings are much different, so if you have been playing Age of Empires this page will help you to get to know the buildings. In any case the buildings let you build units, and upgrade other things and research many technologies. The buildings are vital to survive, so here they are rounded up. The Archery Range is a building which lets you build Archery units such as the Bowman, Horse Archer and more. The Archery Range is a feudal age building that allows you to produce three main types of archery units: foot archers, skirmishers, and mounted archers. Most of the upgrades for these units are not done in the archery range building but in the blacksmith.

The Barracks are where most of your foot units are made. The barracks is available in the Dark Age and allows you to make five units throughout the ages: the militia, man-at-arms, long swordsman, two-handed swordsman, and the champion. The barracks also has special technologies of tracking and squire.

The blacksmith is one of the main places you have to use to get more technologies. It can make the difference between winning and losing. Players who tend to overlook the blacksmith in favor of trying to get a castle up more quickly usually pay for it with bodies all over the field. The armor upgrades in AoK are very important, much more so than in Age of Empires. This is because more units can kill each other, due to upgrades.

The Dock is where all of your navy will be built. It is a good idea to get a good economy through the fishing boats. The Dock will come in handy in the game.

The mill is used to deposit food and research technologies that make food production much better. The mill is required to build many othe buildings that are vital to have a good city. Once built you can build farms, which will be needed.

The Siege Workshop is another good building to have, here you can build all the siege weapons which will be needed to destroy an enimies town. The units provided at this building can dramatically change the way your game might flow.

The Stable is another building that enables you to build all horse back units. The mounted units of the stable are the fastest in the game and serve many purposes from scouting to engaging in large battles. Scouts, light cavalry, knights, cavaliers, and the mighty paladin are available here.

The University is another building which allows you to research upgrades. It has the upgrades like ballistics and others like that. This building is much like the government centre of Age of Empires.
